The capitalist state always, in the end, does what is necessary to sustain capitalism, regardless of the differing ideologies between social democrats, liberals, conservatives and fascists, who argue only over their various self-interests, how best to sustain capitalism and how much carrot and stick to use in managing the working class. Ultimately they form an anti-communist, anti-working class coalition. Bourgeois democracy is in effect a one-party state, ie an all capitalist state. Like any party, it comprises numerous factions. This reality is neatly obscured by the pretence of various party colours.
