Elisa Pierandrei

Elisa Pierandrei is an experienced Italian journalist based in Milan. She is the author of “Urban Cairo. La primavera araba dei graffiti” (InformAnt | eBook Quotidiani, 2012 and 2014) and has published a chapter on the same topic in "Media And Politics: Discourses, Cultures, and Practices" (Cambridge Scholars Publishing, 2018)

Born in 1973, in Jesi, Italy, her formal language and writing education started at Ca’ Foscari University in Venice, Italy, where she graduated in Arabic Language and Literature. She later received a master's degree (M.A.) in Journalism and Mass Communication from the American University in Cairo, Egypt.

From 2003 until 2008, she worked as a full-time staff journalist for the Italian news agency Adnkronos International in Rome. She has then moved to Milan where she currently lives and works as a contributing writer for la Repubblica (D/Dlui and Il Venerdì), Contemporary And, The New Arab, among others.

She also gives academic seminars about media in the Arab region.
