" I am at your mercy.”
Matthias cracked one of his whips. “Get up and get in the house.”
“As you wish.” Rose wrinkled his nose, picked a banana peel off his lap, and stood in the last faint beams of sunset.
“Whoa!”
“Is he wearing a leather cat suit?”
“Holy Mother!"
“Dude!”
The guys all quickly averted their eyes and raised their hands to further block any chance of catching a view. Anything to not see Rose in his painted-on leather one-piece that left absolutely nothing to the imagination. Their reactions were pure entertainment.
“Stunning, right?” Rose spread his palms as far as the cuffs would allow.
“Oh, I’m stunned.” Ayden looked ill. Rose looked down at himself with admiration. “Not many males can pull off this look.” “No male can pull off that look.”
“Actually, his finely sculptured physique would be considered the perfect complement for this type of anatomically revealing attire which accentuates his—”
“Bloody hell, Jayden, shut it!”
“Dude, this is so not right.”
“I feel like it’s looking at me.”
“Feel like what’s looking at—? Oh. Oh! Ugh, now I feel like it’s looking at me too.”
“How can it be looking at both of us?”
“Are you serious?”
“I’m gonna be sick.”
“Someone please gouge out my eyes.”
“He might as well be naked.”
“Already did that,” Rose said dryly and gave me a suggestive wink. “Ask Aurora.”
“What!” Now the crowd had eyes on me. I frantically shook my head.
“No, no, no. It’s not what you think. He was in the water with most,” my hands circled over my abdomen, “stuff covered.”
“Most?” Ayden almost shrieked. The orange-red flames on his arms flashed blue-white. "

" In a giddy tone I announced, “Operation Demon Days, Hexy Knights. Knight with a ‘K’.”
Someone groaned.
Matthias grimaced. “Absolutely not. It’s ridiculous.”
“It’s perfect!” Blake picked me up for a quick twirl around. “I’m a Hexy Knight. I love having her in the group.”
“No,” Matthias said. “She’s not—we’re not keeping her.”
What am I, a stray?”
Jayden shook his head. “‘Hexy’ isn’t even a word.”
Tristan frowned. “It makes us sound like wizards casting spells.”
“No, dude. It makes us sound sexy.”
“It makes us sound stupid,” Matthias said. As Blake settled me back on the checkered blanket, I huffed,
“Well, thank you Professor of the Dark Arts.”
“Aren’t you the clever sheila. Really dug deep for that one. "

" Another exit down the way,” Cristiano said as he brushed dirt off the big guy’s face.
Blake caught his wrist, and without opening his eyes, said in a groggy slur, “Babe, I know you’ve been dying for an excuse, being in the throes of battle and all, so go ahead. You can give me mouth-to-mouth now.” He puckered his lips.
Cristiano smiled. “I do not believe I am the ‘babe’ you are wishing to provide that no-doubt pleasurable as well as lifesaving feat.”
Blake smiled wistfully. “Cristiano, that you?”
“Yes, my brave friend, it is I.”
“Honestly, dude, you are so pretty, I don’t think I’d mind.”
Cristiano dropped his head back and laughed. We all joined him. "

" Logan studied him for a moment. “What exactly is your power?”
“Staying alive,” Cristiano answered.
“You’d better be sure she does,” Ayden said. “Stay alive, that is, because if anything happens to her, Sicarius or not, I’m coming for you.”
After a beat, Matthias added, “And he won’t be alone.”
“Ahhh,” I smiled. “I knew you cared.”
Matthias groaned. “Why do you ruin everything?”
“Part of my charm. "
