" Complaining is an attitude choice that if left unchecked will wither my capacity to experience joy and genuine thankfulness. "
― James MacDonald , Lord, Change My Attitude
" How long will this people spurn Me? And how long will they not believe in Me, despite all the signs which I have performed in their midst? I will smite them with pestilence and dispossess them, and I will make you into a nation greater and mightier than they” (verses 11–12). That’s when Moses pleaded with God not to wipe them out even for His own reputation. And God relented. "
" Words can never adequately convey the incredible impact of our attitude.… I believe the single most important decision I can make on a day-to-day basis is my attitude choice. It’s more important than my past. It’s more important than my education or my bankroll or my success or my failures. My attitude choice is more important than my fame or my pain or what others think or say about me or my position or my circumstances. Attitudes keep me going or cripple my progress. Attitude alone fuels my fire or assaults my hope. When my attitude is right, there is no barrier too high nor valley too deep nor dream too extreme nor challenge too great for me.2 "
" Don’t get a bad attitude like they did back in the wilderness, or you’re going to be joining them. "
" To complain is to say in effect; “God, You blew it! You had a chance to meet my expectations, but You couldn’t handle it! Nice try, God, close—but not close enough.” So complaining definitely injures you and the Lord. "
" More of anything other than God will never fill that longing for fulfillment He has placed within you and me. "
" With God, we can be satisfied and fulfilled with very little, but without Him, all that we have will always be dry and deeply disappointing. "
" Thankfulness is the attitude that perfectly displaces my sinful tendency to complain and thereby release joy and blessing into my life. "
" Whenever you are in a critical temper, it is impossible to enter into communion with God. "
" Gratitude is the attitude that sets the altitude for living! "
" Faith is active confidence in God. "
" Every step with God is a step of faith. Every lesson learned is a lesson of faith. Every victory won is a victory by faith. That’s the prominence of faith in the New Testament. "
" Only when we recognize God as our gracious provider do we comprehend our need for God and begin to express faith in Him. That is a very significant point. Faith grows in the soil of thankfulness. Only when a person outside of Christ is willing to acknowledge—“Yes, there is a God. I have received much from His hand and probably owe Him something more than passive acknowledgment. Perhaps I should turn and consider whether I ought to be reconciled to this God who made me and gives me life and strength”—only then will he be ready for faith. Faith "
" Lord, thank You today that You are a good and a faithful God. Oh, God, increase my faith! Give me this day and this week a greater capacity to trust You, to rest in Your promises. Lord, help me to see You related to the very circumstances I face. Might I see how all that comes our way and how we handle it is directly related to our willingness to rest in Your promises and walk closely with You. Grant that kind of victory to me. May this day be different because of what I’ve prayed and acknowledged before You in this moment. And I promise to give You thanks and praise and glory for Your care and compassion for my life. In Jesus’ name I ask these things. Amen. "
" Criticism plugs the flow of God's blessing. "
" One of the consequences of covetousness is that it destroys the capacity to discern sufficiency. It distorts our thinking to the point where: Enough is never enough. "
