" Don’t let people’s compliments go to your head, and don’t let their criticisms go to your heart. The degree to which you do either of these things is the degree to which you’ll be ruled by what other people think of you. "
― Lysa TerKeurst , Made to Crave Devotional: 60 Days to Craving God, Not Food
" We can’t look to our feelings to determine truth. We must look to truth to rein in our feelings. "
" If I understand balance, I will eat to live — not live to eat. I will enjoy nourishment, not gorge on empty calories. I will eat until satisfied, not eat to be satisfied. As Romans 6:19 says, I will make right choices that honor God and lead to holiness rather than constant indulgences that lead to defeat. "
" It is possible to rise up, do battle with our issues, and, using the Lord’s strength in us, defeat them —spiritually, physically, and mentally—to the glory of God. "
" The only true satisfaction we can seek is the satisfaction of being obedient to the Lord. "
" God made us to crave—to desire eagerly, want greatly, and long for Him. But Satan wants to do everything possible to replace our craving for God with something else. "
" Dear friends, I urge you, as foreigners and exiles, to abstain from sinful desires, which wage war against your soul. (1 PETER 2:11) "
" Dear Lord, I struggle caring too much about the opinions of others. I beg You to please whisper words of truth into my heart and mind today. Protect me from both the bad and good opinions of others as I am reminded that only Your opinion counts. In Jesus’ name. Amen. "
" I’ve realized this isn’t as much about losing the weight as it is gaining truth—the truth of who I am in Christ and how I am made for more than this constant, self-defeating struggle. It’s the truth that reminds me a scale can measure my physical body but never my worth as a woman. And it’s the truth that God loves me the way I am, but He loves me too much to leave me stuck in a place of defeat. "
" Between any trial and the blessing that comes from that trial, there is a pathway we must walk — that pathway is perseverance. Perseverance means having an urgency, firmness, resolve, and consistency. And, while the joy of the blessing may seem a long way off, signposts or mile markers of joy line the way. These will help us persevere with resolve and consistency if we “consider” them. "
" God made us to crave—to desire eagerly, want greatly, and long for Him. "
" Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. (COLOSSIANS 3:1 – 2) "
" Dear Lord, I want to wait in calm and patient expectation today. Please take my exhaustion and turn it into expectation; take my feelings of hopelessness and give me real hope. I want to stop resisting Your truths and start applying them. I will do all that I can today, and I will wait with anticipation for all that You will do through me. In Jesus’ name. Amen. "
" Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him. (PSALM 34:8) "
" simple but very profound truth, “How can you let God down when you weren’t ever holding Him up? "
" My weight loss goal isn’t a number on the scale. My real weight loss goal is peace. "
" Will this choice add to my peace or steal from it? Remember, nothing tastes as good as peace feels. "
" When I don’t have peace physically, I don’t have peace spiritually. I can’t separate the two. Nor should I. "
" Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. (1 THESSALONIANS 5:16 – 18) "
" I love my Jesus with all my heart, so why would I offer anything less than an ignited prayer life? "
