" Every desire is predicated on the absence of what we desire: We desire money, beauty, success, love, or anything else only because we feel we don’t have enough of it. This sense of lack is the ego’s usual state. It never feels it has enough of anything, including love. The ego desires love, while Essence is love. When we are aligned with Essence, there is no desiring, not for love or anything else. Essence is an experience of completion, not lack. Therefore, any desire for love comes from the ego, which has difficulty experiencing the love that is always present, underlying all life. The ego doesn’t feel love (Essence does), so it doesn’t feel loved. Any emptiness or lack of love we might feel is the ego’s experience and has little to do with reality. "
