1 " The beauty of death is that it is a constant reminder of the limited time we spend here in this unique life on Earth. It is the ongoing wakeup call that reminds us to be joyous, to laugh, to love, to be compassionate and grateful, and most of all – to forgive. "
― Alaric Hutchinson , Living Peace: Essential Teachings for Enriching Life
2 " My wakeup call wasn’t some light switch of empowerment. From as early as preschool I feared that if I didn’t grow up to be the pretty princess men fawned over, I was a failure. That mentality was my disease. It got me raped. It made me feel dirty and devalued because my cherry wasn’t popped on a bed of rose petals. It fueled an adolescence juggling starvation and vomiting until my throat bled out and my stomach acid burned through the plumbing. It made me snort coke, smoke meth, and routinely gulp down narcotic petri dishes in hopes of obtaining hallucinogenic intimacy with junkie boyfriends. But most of all, it made me waste my youth chasing, obsessing over, fighting for, worshipping, clinging to, and crying over one after another loser. At some point, I just quit giving a fuck. "
― Maggie Georgiana Young , Just Another Number
3 " Whatever we experience in a dream appears to us to be real only so longas we are experiencing that dream. When we wake up and consider what wehad experienced, we understand clearly and without any doubt that it was allunreal, being merely a figment of our imagination.Likewise, all that we experience in this so-called waking state appears tous to be real only so long as we are experiencing this state. When we wakeup into our real waking state, which is the non-dual state of perfectly clearself-consciousness or self-knowledge, we will discover that all the dualitythat we are now experiencing in our present state of self-ignorance is asunreal as all the duality that we experienced in our dream, being nothing buta mere figment of our own imagination. "
4 " You must wakeup in the morning thinking of things you could change in and about your life on a daily basis. "
5 " Dr. Peter Boghossian’s A Manual for Creating Atheists is a precise, passionate, compassionate and brilliantly reasoned work that will illuminate any and all minds capable of openness and curiosity. This is not a bedtime story to help you fall asleep, but a wakeup call that has the best chance of bringing your rational mind back to life.(Review of Dr. Peter Boghossian's book, 'A Manual for Creating Atheists') "
― Stefan Molyneux
6 " It’s sad really, trying to appreciate all of the great events in our lives and all the amazingly good days. Sometimes it seems like we take them for granted, until something bad comes along to put us back into perspective. Are these bad events catalysts for change, which bring out the resiliency and best in us? A cosmic wakeup call that reminds us to enjoy the good times, because they can be taken away so easily. How messed up and ironic would that be?Is it even possible for us to remember what goodness we’re truly capable of on a daily basis, not just when things cause us to react out of necessity. A base line of beautiful acts and thoughts that are not brought out only by holiday music or someone else’s misfortune, but remain at the surface of who we really are. Wouldn’t that be amazing? Wouldn’t that be something to strive for? "
