41 " For that thought to be strong, however, it must be free of doubt, for doubt weakens the will, weakens the response of the universe, and slows the manifestation of desire. "
― Stephen Richards , How to Get Everything You Can Imagine: Volume 1: How Mind Power Works
42 " 8 Shortest stories, with beautiful meanings !(1) Those who had coins, enjoyed in the rain. Those who had notes, were busy looking for shelter.(2) Man and God both met somewhere. Both exclaimed, " My creator." (3) He asked, are you a Hindu or Muslim? The response came, " I am hungry" !(4) The fool didn't know it was impossible. So he did it.(5) " Wrong number," Said a familiar voice.(6) What if God asks you after you die, " So how was heaven?" (7) They told me that to make her fall in love I had to make her laugh. 43 " Someone who lies and someone who tells the truth are playing on opposite sides, so to speak, in the same game. Each responds to the facts as he understands them, although the response of the one is guided by the authority of the truth, while the response of the other defies that authority and refuses to meet its demands. The bullshitter ignores these demands altogether. He does not reject the authority of the truth, as the liar does, and oppose himself to it. He pays no attention to it at all. By virtue of this, bullshit is a greater enemy of the truth than lies are. "

― Bryant McGill , Simple Reminders: Inspiration for Living Your Best Life
45 " Stress can alter the expression of genes, which can affect the response to stress and so on. Human behavior is therefore unpredictable in the short term, but broadly predictable in the long term. "

47 " Treating Abuse Today 3(4) pp. 26-33TAT: I see the agenda. But let's go back: one of the contentions the therapeutic community has about the Foundation's professed scientific credibility is your use of the term " syndrome." It seems to us that what's happening here is that based solely on anecdotal, unverified reports, the Foundation has started a public relations campaign rather than a bonafide research effort and simply announced to the world that an epidemic of this syndrome exists. The established scientific and clinical organizations are taking you on about this and it's that kind of thing that makes us feel like this effort is not really based on science. Do you have a response to that?Freyd: The response I would make regarding the name of the Foundation is that it will certainly be one of the issues brought up during our scientific meeting this weekend. But let me add that the term, " syndrome," in terms of it being a psychological syndrome, parallels, say, the rape trauma syndrome. Given that and the fact that there are seldom complaints over the use of the term " syndrome" for that, I think that it isn't " syndrome" that's bothering people as much as the term " false." TAT: No. Frankly it's not. It is the term " syndrome." The term false memory is almost 100 years old. It's nothing new, but false memory syndrome is newly coined. Here's our issue with your use of the word " syndrome." The rape trauma syndrome is a good example because it has a very well defined list of signs and symptoms. Having read your literature, we are still at a loss to know what the signs and symptoms of " false memory syndrome" are. Can you tell us succinctly?Freyd: The person with whom I would like to have you discuss that to quote is Dr. Paul McHugh on our advisory board, because he is a clinician.TAT: I would be happy to do that. But if I may, let me take you on a little bit further about this.Freyd: Sure, sure that's fair.TAT: You're the Executive Director of the False Memory Syndrome Foundation - a foundation that says it wants to disseminate scientific information to the community regarding this syndrome but you can't, or won't, give me its signs and symptoms. That is confusing to me. I don't understand why there isn't a list. "
48 " The most effective alternative process [to punishment] is probably extinction. This takes time but is much more rapid than allowing the response to be forgotten. The technique seems to be relatively free of objectionable by-products. We recommend it, for example when we suggest that a parent 'pay no attention' to objectionable behavior on the part of his child. If the child's behavior is strong only because it has been reinforced by 'getting a rise out of' the parent, it will disappear when this consequence is no longer forthcoming. (p. 192) "
― B.F. Skinner , Science and Human Behavior
49 " Faith is the response of our spirits to beckonings of the eternal. "
50 " Tranquillizers do not change our environment nor do they change our personalities. They merely reduce our responsiveness to stimuli. They dull the keen edge of the angers fears or anxiety with which we might otherwise react to the problems of living. Once the response has been dulled the irritating surface noise of living muted or eliminated the spark and brilliance are also gone. "
51 " Lorne finally said, Do the Blues Brothers thing. The response was amazing. People went nuts. "
52 " What is Art? It is the response of man's creative soul to the call of the Real. "
53 " Here's the funny thing about the response I've been aware of to my dating famous people: It's been very negative. I'm either not good-looking enough, not a good enough actor or not successful enough for these people. "
54 " Everything about 'UY' is new and fresh, and we are extremely happy at the response from the audiences, as most people are walking out of cinema halls with a smile on their faces. "
