Akhteruzzaman Elias

Akhteruzzaman Elias (Bangla: আখতারুজ্জামান ইলিয়াস) was a Bangladeshi novelist and short story writer. Though he wrote only two novels, critics place Elias in the pantheon of great Bengali novelists. In the context of the novels of Bangladesh, he is possibly the second person highest acclaimed after Syed Waliullah.

He is one of the early post-modernist writers in Bangla literature. He was honored with Bangla Academy Award in 1983. In 1999, he was honored with Ekushey Padak posthumously.
