After watching countless vampire movies, I decided to put my own spin on the timeless creature, so I began writing a screenplay called An Immortal's Journey. There are many different kinds of vampire mentioned in folktales throughout history. Most feed on either the life blood or the life energies of the living to sustain themselves. I combined the two types to create a new kind of vampire that I could push into an exciting new direction. By combining them this way, the vampire could gain knowledge and abilities through the blood of its victims, eventually becoming godlike!

I couldn't limit my fantasy to just vampires, so I took many creatures from folklore and mythology to weave an epic story that explains why we don't see these creatures in our modern, everyday lives. But at the core of this story runs a strong vein of various religious beliefs and points of view on what is good and what is evil.

I entered into several screenplay competitions and received both praise and constructive criticism, but with no buyers of the script, I ended up shelving it for a couple of years. It wasn't until a fellow writer talked me into dusting off the old script and rewriting it as Immortal Journey: Book I of The Immortal Epic.
