Danny M. Cohen

I wear lots of hats, but everything is connected!
[1] I'm a professor and learning scientist at Northwestern University. I specialize in Holocaust memory, hidden narratives, and the design of social justice education. [2] I write human rights fiction and choose-your-own-pathway stories. My novel TRAIN is inspired by hidden Holocaust history. [3] I'm the founder of Unsilence, a national education nonprofit. We use storytelling, the arts, and serious games to help young people talk about hidden injustice in the past and present. [4] I'm one half of the folk-rock duo They Won't Win. Our debut album, LOST AT SEA, explores themes like grief, intimate partner violence, and LGBTQ acceptance. [5] I'm co-chair of the Illinois Holocaust & Genocide Commission. [6] I'm a public speaker. I create and lead educator trainings and workshops for young people and communities about Holocaust memory, education design, and human rights today. [7] Originally from London, I now live in Chicago.
