W. Kristjan Arnold

Born in the United States, W. Kristjan Arnold has lived and worked abroad for the past 33 years, including 25 years in Spain (Barcelona, Madrid, Galicia). With the exception of a few of the Canary Islands and territories of Melilla & Ceuta, he has visited every province, including all major cities, most mid-sized cities, and innumerable towns and villages. He is fluent in Castillian, with a fair comprehension of French, Catalan and Galician. In 2001, Kristjan bicycled 800 kilometers along the ancient Pilgrim's Way to Santiago de Compostela. He has also sailed the Spanish Mediterranean coast, including the Balearic Islands, and participated in several Admiral-Count of Barcelona regattas in Mallorca.
Mr. Arnold is an enthusiastic Hispanophile, despite having no Spanish blood in his family tree. "My love for Spain," he asserts, "is not derived from ancestral lineage. Rather it comes from the land and her people. And from the cuisine and especially the vino!" A citizen of Spain since 2001, Mr. Arnold is notably not a member of any political party or organization. The impetus for writing 'The Reign is Spain' came in response to repeated inquiries of friends and family about the Nation's recent history and role of the Monarchy. When asked to recommend a good book on the topic, Kristjan was unable to cite a single title written in English that encompassed the subject matter. When an acquaintance suggested, 'You should write that book!', he took it to heart. After ten years of writing and four more years of editing, 'The Reign in Spain' is now available for your reading pleasure!
