Rekha Ramcharan

The author of Manifesting Motherness, Healing from Infertility, Rekha Ramcharan, was born in Durban, South Africa and holds the qualifications BA (Law), LLB and HDipTax. She qualified as a lawyer before practising in the fields of corporate and specialised finance law. Thereafter, she spent almost 20 years in a succession of banking executive roles, working in South Africa and across the African continent. Prior to writing her debut book, she was the managing executive of a R70bn retail lending business within one of the big 4 banks in South Africa

At 44, after years of infertility treatments, she accepted the medical opinions of fertility specialists that it wouldn’t be possible for her to have a child without egg donation. Despite this, shortly after her 45th birthday, she discovered that she had fallen pregnant naturally and, later that year, after a healthy and uneventful pregnancy, her daughter, Aarya, was born.
During a sabbatical from her corporate job, she realised that her experience could be shared with other women struggling with infertility. What started out as a selection of blog pieces coalesced into her debut book, in which she tells her personal story and presents a model for holistic healing.
She is a word-nerd and her “List of Books you Can’t Tell me you Dislike and Still be my Friend” includes JM Coetzee’s Disgrace and Simon Winchester’s The Surgeon of Crowthorne, the story of the making of the Oxford English Dictionary.

Rekha Ramcharan lives in Johannesburg with her husband, daughter and two dogs.
