Patty Houser

Patty is a woman who loves to write and is in a season in her life in which she chooses to pursue it wholeheartedly. Patty began writing as a child and became a faithful journaler as a teen and young adult. In college, she entertained her professors with profound insights about the human psyche and its interaction with the complex world in which it lives. After graduate school, she published her first two articles, “The Art of Reasoning Well” (Biola University, Winter, 2013) and “Misguided Migration” (Christian Research Journal, Vol. 40/No.1, 2017), and her first book, "A Woman's Guide To Knowing What You Believe: How To Love God With Your Heart and Your Mind" (Bethany House, October 2015).

With the advent of her son heading off to college, becoming an empty-nester, and reflecting on living a rich and diverse life, Patty has decided to combine her love of psychology (B.A.), theology (M.A), philosophy of mind, and recovery, and write novels that portray the complexities of the human experience in an ever-changing world.

Her first work of fiction," Never Too Late," is a novel based on her own life about a young woman who tries to outrun her past only to discover that the only way to truly overcome it is to stop running from it and confront it so that she can live the life she was meant to live. It will be available in the fall of 2018.

When Patty is not writing, she also enjoys playing the piano. She trained at the Levine School of Music in Washington, D.C., for seven years under Dasha Gabay, and has been training under Dr. Irina Yurkovskaya at Perfect Pitch Studios for the past five years. She also enjoys gardening and is working toward becoming a master gardener with Fairfax County Master Gardeners. She also loves to ski, hike, travel, and take photographs of the fascinating places she visits and the interesting people she meets.

Patty has been happily married for 20 years to her husband, Dan, a Professor of Economics at George Mason University. They live in Northern Virginia with their son, Daniel, and their two cats, Jack and Felix.
