Hagir Elsheikh

Hagir Elsheikh conducts her life like a well-choreographed dance, gracefully managing myriad projects with an air of calm confidence and conviviality. Hagir is an entrepreneur, an electrical engineer-turned registered nurse juggles life as a single mother with two daughters while running her company. She is best known for her Human Rights and Women's Rights activism and domestic violence advocacy. She struggled a lot from an early age but managed to keep a positive attitude and changed the negative into positive. Hagir experienced domestic violence after she fled political violence and torture in Sudan. She thought of herself as someone who could make a difference. After all, she was the spokesperson for the Democratic party during college. She fought a corrupted regime in Sudan among other activists, that put her life in danger and she was forced to seek immigration to the US in search of a better life. She ended up facing violence in her own home.

Hagir uses her life story and her vision to influence, motivate and empower others. She became a motivational speaker. Her professional vision and personal vision became almost one, once she found a career that she enjoyed. She became a Registered Nurse with a Bachelor in Science and Nursing and soon after she started her company where she is the owner and CEO of HSE Staffing Agency LLC one of the top leading agencies in Central PA that pairs healthcare providers with skilled employees. She taught at Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC) as a clinical instructor and advocates for victims of violence through Tomorrow’s Smiles, LLC, her non-profit organization. When she is not running her company, Hagir volunteers at different organizations such as The Capital Coalition on Homelessness, the YWCA, the Meals on Wheels, Pennsylvania Alliance Against the Trafficking of Humans and the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Domestic Violence. She was recently appointed to Harrisburg Area Community College Board of Trustee and became a member. She is also a member of the Diversity Committee. In 2019 she joined the Church World Service CWS and became a member of its Board of Trustee. CWS Focuses on refugee services. During her spare time, she creates podcasts on topics like human trafficking as a host of the TV talk show The Hagir Show, a co-host of TSO a radio live talk show. Recently she published her memoir "Through Tragedy and Triumph: A Life Well Traveled"

Hagir’s work hasn’t gone unnoticed by the community at large. She was recognized in 2017 by the Central Penn Business Journal (CPBJ) as a “Women of Influence.” According to CPBJ Publisher Shaun McCoach, nominations are independently scored based on their contributions to the community by judges who are selected from a list of past winners. “Based on her outstanding contributions to the community, it’s no surprise that Hagir won,” he said. It’s tough not to marvel at Elsheikh. Many wonder how she manages to pack so much into her schedule without falling apart at the seams, but the fabric of her life seems to be woven of Kevlar and she’s overcome adversity time and again with grit, determination, hard work, and resilience. She was featured in many magazines, newspapers, Documentaries and TV shows in the US and internationally. Hagir was also the recipient of the health care hero award in 2017. Hagir’s company was named Readers’ Choice Simply the Best Staffing Agency in Central Pennsylvania for 2 years in the raw 2017 and 2018. Hagir was recently honored by the state of Pennsylvania on their Year of the Woman Recognition.
