I traveled there on a jet airplane that was cruising at 35,000 feet in a high radiation cabin that was only pressurized to 8,000 feet for four hours. I was hypoxic, but I did not know it as I was only seven years old. We went up to see the Teide volcano on a bus tour. Its summit was 12,188 feet.
