A field study in 2011, for example, found that “double-blind sequential line-ups as administered by police departments across the country resulted in the same number of suspect identifications but fewer known-innocent filler identifications than double blind simultaneous line-ups.”11 Some have disputed these findings and have proposed more tests. But this, in itself, represents progress. Systems are being trialed. People are using experiments.
