QUOTE : Most racial stereotypes of Black women—that they are sexually insatiable, unrapeable, and prone to having a bunch of babies they can’t take care of, are gendered stereotypes. But most of us don’t learn to identify the problem as one rooted in sexism and racism. This is a problem that Black feminist organizers and intellectuals have been attuned to since the very beginning. But I simply didn’t know that white feminists had a version of this problem, too. Namely, white women’s voting practices tell us that they vote with the party that supports their racial issues, even though this means voting with a party that hates women as a matter of public policy.
