He smiled and urged her back against him. “Believe me, I’m feeling no pain right now.” A pleased look on her face, she tucked her head beneath his chin and was asleep within minutes. After a while, he eased her down beside him and lay behind her on the couch, holding her close, and thanking God for this second chance at a family he thought he’d never have. "
